Kenneth D. Peterson, Jr., Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Peterson graduated from Willamette University’s College of Law in 1980. He had earlier earned an AB in Government, with High Honors, and been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at The College of William and Mary. In 1987, while actively practicing law, he purchased and re-opened an aluminum smelter in Washington State. Subsequently he founded Columbia Ventures Corporation and led in the creation or acquisition of several subsidiary businesses.


David M. Brewer, Vice Chairman

Mr. Brewer has over 35 years of experience in the aluminum industry. Prior to joining Columbia in 1988 he held various executive positions with Anaconda Aluminum Company, Arco Aluminum (a division of Atlantic Richfield Corporation) and Hydro Aluminium (a division of Norway ‘s Norsk Hydro). His positions included Vice President of Marketing and Sales as well as General Manager. Mr. Brewer is a graduate of Ball State University .

Mr. Brewer serves on the Board of Mid Park Inc., a metal fabrication company and the board of The Home of the Innocents, a non-profit in Louisville, Kentucky.


Susan D. Cruz, Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Cruz was appointed as CFO in 2013 having served as VP of Finance and Accounting since 2004. Since joining the Company in 1989 she has served in various roles in the Finance area including Vice President of Administration and Control and Corporate Controller. Prior to joining CVC, she was with Coopers & Lybrand for five years.

She is a CPA and holds an MBA from Portland State University and a Bachelors degree from University of Portland.


Kipling J. Peterson, Chief Investment Strategist

Mr. Peterson joined CVC in 1996. He has been involved in the financial markets for over 20 years, ranging from the pits at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to the trading desks of an off the floor derivatives firm. He currently manages CVC’s publicly traded investment portfolio.


Charles W. Bricker, President of Columbia Development Company

Mr. Bricker joined Columbia in 1989 with over 10 years of experience in technical and management positions in the aluminum industry. He managed numerous CVC portfolio companies including Columbia Commercial Building Products, Columbia Aluminum Products and Technol, an aluminum extruding company in Mexico. Today Mr. Bricker manages CVC’s various real estate developments and land holdings in Texas as well as providing advisory services to other CVC companies and investments.

Mr. Bricker has served on the board of the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce and as a member and chairman of the Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission. He is a past president of the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club.
