New ‘makerspace’ to offer workstations, technology

A Vancouver-based investment company will open a “makerspace” at the end of October, offering access to office space and high-end fabrication equipment.

Ventures At Work, 14301 S.E. First St., Vancouver, from Columbia Ventures Corporation, will offer access to 3-D printers, a laser cutter and textile equipment, in addition to workstations and conference rooms.

Access will vary based on membership; rates have not been finalized, according to Kenneth Peterson, founder and CEO of Columbia Ventures Corporation. Membership is not yet open.

“Ventures At Work will offer an inexpensive yet powerful alternative to using your home or garage for business,” said Susan Cruz, an executive with Columbia Ventures Corporation. “It will provide a vibrant location to work and network and we also intend to sponsor opportunities to connect with local investors.”
